I like to think of the learning process as being similar to mountain climbing. We all have to have a goal to get where we want to go. When hiking up a mountain, you aim for the summit. In education, we strive to stimulate intellectual curiosity and pursue excellence. Developing a sociological imagination requires that we move beyond our taken-for- granted assumptions of how the social world operates. We aim to understand who we are and how we fit into our society.
