UNDERLINING

  • Here’s the long and short of it:

    • Underline long items:

      • titles of magazines, journals, or newspapers; books; novels; long (epic) poems; compact discs/albums;

      • television shows; movies; works of art; names of trains, planes, ships, and spacecraft

    • Put “ ” around short items:

      • titles of magazine, journal, or newspaper articles; book chapters; short stories;

      • short poems; songs; television episodes

a title set in quotes within another title set in quotes:

a title set in quotes within a title that is underlined:
