As the name indicates, comparison/contrast papers find the similarities and differences between two or more subjects. In addition to two subjects, your paper needs about three points of comparison or contrast. Your thesis should contain your two subjects and list your points of comparison. In addition, comparison/contrast is performed for a purpose. Often, writers want to figure out which subject is better or worse. However, this type of writing can also illustrate changes over time or even make a comment on society. For example, comparing men and women in the workplace could illustrate sexism.
