Complete the two assignments below,
labeled A & B.
A. Peer Review
Post your rough draft to the discussion
board. Be sure to hit the Refresh button several times to see your classmates'
essays appear. Then, perform a peer review for at least two of your classmates.
Provide feedback concerning the
following items:
1. Introduction: How might
the reader better grab your interest? Give a specific suggestion for
revision, even if the intro seems fine. [Never hurts to have alternatives!] For
example, consider what sort of vivid description would turn your head, or what
imagined narrative would peak your interest. Can you think of an intriguing
question that might better open the paragraph? What bold statement would prompt
you to read on?2. Provide solid, specific advice concerning at least
one of the categories described in the body paragraphs. Consider:
What might be described in more detail? Can you suggest a specific example of
the type of person or behavior that would further illustrate the classification?
Does any information seem out of place or unnecessary?
3. Put yourself
in the writer's place. Suggest an alternative category fitting to his or
her theme. For instance, say the writer classified party goers in three
categories: the wall flower, the party pooper, and the party animal. You'd then
suggest a fourth category of your own devise, such as "the gracious
host."
Finally, recall our discussion of Monday: if you do not
use your critical thinking skills to provide thoughtful, useful feedback, you
will not receive credit for the assignment.

Proofreading
Now, open your own essay in Microsoft Word. Be sure the
Reviewing Toolbar is showing. [Click View--> Toolbars--> Reviewing].
Select the Track Changes Feature. With your Keys for Writers handbook at
your side, edit for commas use. That is, add or delete commas according to
the rules you've diligently studied. If the Track Changes feature has been
properly selected, all changes will appear in red. Save your essay when you are
finished. You may complete Part B for HW if class time runs out.
