 | As class discussions, group work and in-class writing are an integral part of the course, attendance in every class is expected from every student. Realistically, everyone gets the sniffles or has a
bad day, but more than three absences is considered excessive.
A referral form will be sent to the Director of Counseling upon the fourth absence.
 | Official excused absences will be granted according to the guidelines provided in the student handbook. These usually require the student contacting the College Nurse or Academic Affairs. In addition, all written work should be handed in on announced due dates. An unexcused absence from class does not create an exception.
 | If you require an extension for any reason, including illness, you must contact me
at least 24 hours before the beginning of the class in which the work is due. We will then discuss your difficulty, and I will determine if an extension is warranted. If granted, we will agree on a new due date together.
 | Please take note: this means that late writing assignments not granted an extension according to the guidelines above will not be accepted, and you will receive a grade of “F” for such assignments.
