Standardized Assessment
As of fiscal year 1997-98, adult literacy and basic education providers receiving monies through the Pennsylvania Department of Education are required to administer a standardized pretest and post test to each cooperating student. The ALTA Program must meet that requirement. ALTA Program clients need to be given a standardized pretest during their first class session and a post test before leaving the program or upon completion of fifty (50) hours of instruction. Two different but equivalent forms of the same test must be used. Documentation of the results of the test need to be placed on the Adult Learner Data Form for either ESL or ABE/ASE.
