According to the Pennsylvania Department of Education/Bureau of ABLE, documentation required for GED testing of a learner 16 or 17 yrs of age is as follows, and please be aware that these requirements are part of the school code law, ....
Two letters are required:
(1) one from the superintendent of the school district
stating that the learner is no longer enrolled within the school; and
(2) one from an employer who requires a high school
equivalency for job opportunities,
OR a college or technical/trade
school or university official who will accept applicants on the basis of GED
test scores,
OR a recruiting officer for persons who wish to enter a
branch of the armed forces and who are required to have high school equivalency,
OR the director of a state institution for residents,
patients or inmates before their anticipated release or discharge from the
institution.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education
(PDE) will send a transcript of scores to a learner who is 16 or 17 years of
age; however, the actual certificate will not be sent until the learners' class
has graduated unless the superintendent forwards a second letter to PDE.
