English as a Second Language (ESL)
English as a Secondary Language
Goal:
To
offer FREE instruction to adults who are looking to increase fluency in the English language. To develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills and study for US citizenship!Participants:
Any individual who is at least 16 years of age, is a
resident of Pennsylvania, is not currently enrolled in a public or
private secondary or post secondary institution -- or has completed a
high school diploma but is in need of basic skills instruction.
Program Accomplishments (2004-2005):

Provided services to over 900 learners

Over 60% of our adult learners obtained or retained full or part time employment

In previous years, the ALTA Program has had three learners awarded for being the Most Outstanding Adult Learner in Pennsylvania. In addition, two ALTA Program practitioners were recognized for being Exemplary Practitioners and received the APEX Award.
