Distance Learning

Goal:

To offer FREE adult education services to adults who can not attend regular face to face classes.

Participants:

Any individual who is at least 16 years of age, is a resident of Pennsylvania, is not currently enrolled in a public or private secondary or post secondary institution -- or has completed a high school diploma but is in need of basic skills instruction.  If using the internet piece of the distance learning curriculum, participants should have access to a computer with internet access and have basic computer skills.

Program Summary:

This is the first year the ALTA Program has been able to offer learning at distance as another instructional delivery option.  The purpose of this program is to help adult learners work outside of the classroom on a series of books, videos, and computer lessons designed to help the adult learner reach their educational or workplace goals.  Currently, the ALTA Program uses two distance learning curriculum which cover all five of the GED subtests and workplace essentials skills.  Take a tour of the PBS Literacy website to see what GED Connections and WES have to offer.
